Taking the next step in modular renewable energy infrastructure

Building on our containerised energy platform, which combines wind power, solar power, battery storage and intelligent energy management, we are advancing the platform architecture to integrate local hydrogen production, marking the next evolution of decentralised energy systems.

The integration of electrolysis introduces a new level of energy flexibility. On-site renewable electricity can be converted locally into green hydrogen, creating an additional energy pathway beyond direct electrical consumption.

This approach increases renewable utilisation and expands self-consumption potential by converting surplus generation into a storable energy carrier rather than limiting production. While batteries remain highly effective for short-term balancing and dynamic operation, hydrogen enables longer-duration energy storage and additional flexibility across changing demand profiles.

The real-world applications can be wide-ranging, where the addition of green hydrogen to the energy mix can work for a number of different applications, such as:

  • Refuelling Stations: providing on-site, zero-emission hydrogen for fuel-cell vehicles.
  • Off-Grid Power can be expanded on a modular basis as project power requirements grow, including green hydrogen production to replace diesel-based fuel generators.
  • Industrial Backups: Providing sustainable, long-term energy storage or emergency generation for facilities such as hospitals, data centres, cold storage, and motorway service stations are just a few examples.

Local hydrogen production also reduces dependence on external supply chains and enables energy generation and conversion closer to the point of use, lowering infrastructure complexity and strengthening local energy resilience.

At the core of the solution is FlowGen’s integrated software architecture, which combines renewable generation, battery storage, hydrogen production and charging infrastructure into a single intelligent and scalable platform. The system continuously optimises energy flows and coordinates multiple storage and consumption pathways in real time.

For industrial sites and local mobility applications, integrating hydrogen production directly into the energy system delivers additional value beyond energy storage.

Producing hydrogen at the point of use reduces dependence on external delivery infrastructure and creates opportunities for local refuelling concepts integrated directly into site operations.

Renewable electricity generated on-site can be converted and used locally, reducing transport requirements and increasing the utilisation of available renewable energy. This creates a scalable pathway for industrial fleets and operational vehicles, improving energy autonomy and infrastructure flexibility.

By integrating local energy generation, storage, and conversion into a single modular platform, FlowGen enables a new approach to decentralised industrial energy ecosystems.
